This ancient approach to health and well-being known as Greco -Arab Medicine (Unani Tibb Medicine) gives us simple tools that will assist us to master all the different aspects of ourselves. We all know our basic, innate traits and characteristics but knowing why we have them and how best to refine them is a knowledge many of us lack. Through the Garden Clinic and the setting up of regular workshops and residential retreats our intention is to provide attendees with the tools they need to increase in the knowledge of self and thereby have the ability to take control of their health and wellbeing. In the longer term we hope with the permission of God to eventually establish a fully functioning School of Natural Medicine together with a Clinic for graduates of the school to be able to begin to practise their art. 

We provide a range of interactive workshops to provide you with the tools necessary to begin the process of mastering the whole self. Elements, Temperaments and Humours may feel like abstract concepts but they will be broken down in a practical and concise way, so that attendees will walk away with a tangible understanding of their meaning. 

Each block of learning will be punctuated with practical demonstrations of touch and taste. Human Frameworks

Course Content

This workshops aims to provide you with the tools necessary to begin the process of mastering the whole self. Elements, Temperaments and Humours may feel like abstract concepts but they will be broken down in a practical and concise way, so that you walk away with a tangible understanding of their meaning.

You will learn about the 4 Qualities and the 4 Elements in relation to them, we see the qualities of hot, cold, dry and wet exist within everything in the universe including ourselves.

You will learn how the framework of Temperaments came to measure these ever changing elemental qualities within our bodies.

You will learn how these 4 qualities shape our physical features and bodies. How they give rise to our innate traits and characteristics. This psycho - social knowledge is crucial in our relationships and connection with others.

You will learn about the 4 Humours (bodily fluids that result from digestion) and their impact on our bio - physiology and see how food and drink can either serve as a medicine or a slow poison leading to our physical demise.

You will be introduced to preventive health measures in the form of the 6 Lifestyle Factors as promoted by Ibn Sina. Come to learn how each one should be tailored to each of the 4 Temperaments.

Gut Works

Course content

Gut Works is an exploration of energetic nutrition from the perspective of Graeco Arab Medicine (Unani Tibb). An interactive workshop that will explore in depth, two of the Six Lifestyle Factors/Essentials promoted by Ibn Sina;

Dietetics; The Study of Food and Drink
Digestion and Elimination

This essential information is needed to reset your gut and keep it working optimally for your unique blue print. We truly believe that the path to health is lined with good intestines. We are not just what we eat, we are what we digest. Ever wondered what happens inside our guts?

Study of the digestive and elimination organs, their functions and temperaments so, you know how you can best support each one

Introduce you to the principles of tongue analysis and show you how it’s a window into your digestive health and overall wellbeing.

Explore the temperaments of foods and which of these foods are best suited to each of the four temperaments.

Study macro and micro food groups such as fats, proteins and carbohydrates, including their temperaments. Learn about the vital role they play in building and growing the body. Learn how master minerals work in the body, the essential building blocks of our bodies.

We will make ‘Hana’s Superfoods, everything from fermented sauerkraut, sole, ghee and vegetable juices - The Mean Green and Beet the Slump!

Mind Works

Course content

Mind Works explores the energetics of emotional health and all that impacts our well being in this respect. An interactive workshop that will explore in depth, two more of the Six Lifestyle Factors/Essentials promoted by Ibn Sina;

Air: Environment/Breath Psychological & Emotional states

A synergy of these two factors with other holistic modalities means that you will receive a plethora of simple but effective tools that will help to regulate your nervous system and thus your emotional health and wellbeing.

An exploration of the qualities and temperaments of both emotions & psychological state as well as their associated organs. Learn how attar and essentials oils along with their energetics are a brilliant adjunct that can quickly bring balance and calm to a troubled mind.

Introduce to you somatic (being in the body) tools designed to bring regulation to states of anxiety, fear and worry. Showing you how quickly you can ‘observe’ and (through the tools given) dissipate difficult sensations.

We teach you how to map your nervous system, discover your triggers and glimmers (regulate the body) through the Polyvagal Theory. You will love how the simple analogy of a ‘ladder can represent the autonomic nervous system!

Explore ‘Neuroception’ - understand how the subtleties of facial cues and gestures enhance or hinder our social engagement. Study the tools used in physiognomy - the Art of Face Analysis. Another layer to knowing ourselves and others.

Practical Exercises will equip you with a series of breathing techniques that will revolutionise your mind - body connection, boosting energy and mindfulness in a more embodied manner. It’s breath taking on a whole new level. Through breath we will find heart coherence, nervous system regulation - improved physiology and increased energy levels. And it's a great way to beat stress.
